Chris Ware creates this story using cells traditionally used in cartoon illustrations. If we pull our eyes back we see that each cell works together to create an entire scene made up of different points in time. He uses this one page in a comic book to tell a story of an entire lifetime. In our culture we read left to right top to bottom so we soon discover we are going back in time through Big Tex's life. We then have the power then to view the story bottom to top and right to left to read the story chronologically if we wish. This story would not be as powerful if it were written out. He combines comic book cells to tell one big story.
